FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

IT'S A WOMAN'S WORLD 2

The 2nd of a 3 part art exhibit dedicated to the talent of women artists. This show features the unique collage art of award winning artists Baby Smith, Launa Romoff and J. Natasha Kostan.

Reception: Saturday, May 12th, 6pm-9pm, 2007

Baby Smith has been interested in mixed media for nearly 20 years, incorporating recycled and found objects into her work. Her assemblages are arranged with images both familiar and evocative, commenting on society's propensity for mass consumption, as well as revealing the human connection behind each discarded object.

"My intent is to present familiar images and objects that evoke memories or emotions of our own life experiences."

Launa D. Romoff has been working with collage/mixed media since 1997. Twice a survivor of cancer, it was her art that helped her through the pain and fatigue associated with her recovery. Ms. Romoff finds her material everywhere, by seeking out and incorporating into her pieces, that which is thrown away. She believes she has learned to see the beauty of the discarded and turn it into art.

"How I use the material at hand is often more important than the material itself"." -Kurt Schwitters

J. Natasha Kostan has been working in Multi-Media for the past 30 years. Her work expresses her experiences of living in and traveling through multiple cultures. Most of her subjects are based on abstract impressions and memories of different architectural
sites she has visited throughout the world.

"I try to enable the viewer to enter these timeless places that were once inhabited, and now exist only in my mind."
